Historic Hadley Schoolhouse

Picture

The Old Hickory Art Center is located in the historic Hadley Elementary School at 1308 Fuller Street in Old Hickory, TN.  The Art Center is the dream of Tom Taylor, a retired Graphic Artist.  The two-room schoolhouse was built by Dupont and served First through Eighth Grade classes from 1935 until 1956.  With the support of the Old Hickory Utility District the building was renovated and became a haven for artists to paint, learn and sell their artwork.

The Art Center holds two formal exhibits yearly as well as being open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Tom Taylor founded and currently directs the Old Hickory Art Center where he provides instruction and advice to aspiring students and professional artists.  His career in art began at the age of 18 when he received a full scholarship to attend Columbus School of Art.  After completing his formal education Tom embarked on a 45 year career as a professional Litho Artist in the printing industry.  His retirement has allowed Tom to focus full time on his own artistic creations.

Tom's work has been exhibited in the Bradley Museum in Columbus, GA, The Nashville Parthenon, The Madison Art Center, and The Old Hickory Art Center.
